Contemporary Naturopathic Cardiovascular Care

Despite comprehensive public health strategies and a myriad of pharmaceutical options, cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a significant health problem. Self-reported data suggests 5.6 % of adults over the age of 18 suffer from CVD, however true estimates suggest a concerningly higher proportion which worsens as we age. CVD continues to pose a serious disease burden which is underreported, with costs in excess of $10 billion each year.

There is a growing body of evidence supporting the use herbs and nutritional medicines in the care of the cardiovascular system. This ranges from support of mitochondrial and endothelial integrity, to countering the role of stress-induced cardiovascular damage, and impacting cholesterol crystals and blood lipids. Much of this is largely preventable through positive dietary and lifestyle changes and presents a meaningful opportunity to not only influence individual patient outcomes, but also the health of the greater community, especially when combined with appropriate clinical use of herbs and nutrients.

Our expert presenters will discuss the latest evidence in understanding CVD, the initiating factors, as well as drivers behind the progression of cardiovascular pathologies. Kerry and Wayne will both share their expert perspective on the research, as well as their clinical approaches to managing specific cardiovascular problems.
